| 3. | Downloading Audiobooks For ease of download, our Downloadable Audiobooks are broken into segments approximately 1 hour in length. So, a full-length audiobook may extend across 10 or more files. Download all segments at once or download one at a time then return to
eDigitalMediaStore.com to pickup audiobook segments later. This can be
very useful if you have limited space in your computer or mobile audio
player. We recommend that you create a eDigitalMediaStore< folder on
your computer and store all of your Downloadable Audiobooks in that folder
for easy access. |

| 4. | Listening to your Audiobooks Our audiobooks use a high voice-quality MP3 encoding scheme. This provides a great voice-quality recording while maintaining a reasonable file size and a format that plays on most computers and mobile audio devices. For computers, we recommend use of the standard audio players (the Windows Media Player for Windows users and itunes for Macintosh users). For mobile players, we recommend the Rio series (preferably the Rio 500 or better as these models have features which can be beneficial when listening to audiobooks. For Pocket PC users, we recommend use of the Windows Media Player which
comes with Windows CE. 64MB of memory in any mobile audio player will
be more than enough space to hold a segment of your audiobook. There are
many more listening options, which we cover on our Listening
Suggestions
page. |

Every operating system, browser and player combination deals with the download of MP3 files differently. This section is intended to help you configure your computer for ease of download and storage of audio books. We recommend that you create a folder call "audiobooks" for storage of all of your files. When your purchase has been processed, you will be e-mail with the address for you to pickup your files.

This is your launch point for browsing, searching, purchasing and downloading of electronically downloadable audiobooks.
After you have purchased a downloadable audiobook, you will receive a username and password which will provide you access to "Your Library" - all of the downloadable audiobooks which you have purchased.
Once logged in, you will also be able to set your personal preferences (such as font size) and ask questions through our "FAQs" section.
You do not need to log in to browse our catalog or browse FAQs.

provides you with a view of the audiobooks which you have purchased.
Information about the the book's author, publisher and number of sections is displayed. Click on the book's picture or ISBN number to display the sections of the book available for download.

- For ease of download, storage and playback, books are divided into sections of approximately 1-hour in length.
They are intelligently named based on the title of the book and the section number with the total number of sections ("1 of 10," "2 of 10," "3 of 10," etc.).
When you click (on a Mac) or left click (on a PC) on the section name your computer will prompt you for what you want to do with the audio file.

In most cases, your download will begin automatically and your computer ask you if you want to "save" or "open" the audio file.
We recommend that you "save" all of the files you download. This way, you will not need to download them again if you wish to listen again.
If you have installed MP3 players or other audio-visual playback software on your computer (such as Quicktime, Windows Media, and Winamp), you may see different behavior (e.g. playback may begin immediately or Windows Media may present a security warning). In this case, see our section below entitled "Resolving Playback and Download Issues."

Under normal circumstances, you will be presented with a dialog window prompting for whether you wish to "open" or "save" the file. Choose "Save" and click "ok" then browse to find your "audiobooks" folder.
We recommend that you store all of your eDigitalMediaStore files in one folder named "audiobooks."

Once you have received all of the files you wish to download, navigate to your "audiobooks" folder. Double-clicking on any file will open up your default MP3 player and begin playback.
You can see that the naming of the files makes it easy for you to find the book and section easily without the use of additional MP3 library tools.
The above methodology should work equally well accross Windows, Macintosh, Unix and handheld computers.
Our system will behave as described above on most non-customized computers. We find that many people customize their audio settings and add additional software players to their system. In these cases, download may not begin automatically, or playback may start immediately. This is ok as you can always follow the directions on the popup window (i.e. right-click for Windows or click-and-hold for Macintosh and other computers which have only 1 mouse button). This backup plan may prove to be inconvenient for downloading a large number of audiobook sections. The following suggestions are provided to help you disable undesired automatic computer functions.
| Quicktime on Windows - By default, Quicktime will provide a plug-in which plays MP3 files within your web browser. This can make it difficult to download MP3 files as they just start playing inside of a browser window. To disable this feature, you must open the Quicktime Player. Select "Edit / Preferences / Quicktime Preferences." Click the "Mime Settings" button. Disable both the "MPEG" and "MP3" settings. | ![]() |
|
Windows Internet Explorer 6 Media Player - Windows 2000 Pro and Windows XP have the capability of playing audio and video files within a frame inside of the browser window. If you click to download an audiobook and this frame comes up, you may have difficulty downloading the file to your "audiobooks" folder. To disable this feature. Click on the setup button on the bottom of the frame. You will have the option to "disable" automatic playback.
|
|
| Windows File Type Matching - The software player used for playback of MP3 files is determined by the Windows File Types specification. To change your player, open an Explorer window (by clicking on your "My Computer" icon. Select "Tools / Folder Options." Then, click on the "File Types" tab. Scroll through the list until you find the "MP3" file type and use the "Change" button to select another application. | ![]() |
